Flipping pancakes in our English classes

In February, we (2E) worked on the topic ‘food’ during our English classes.

While talking about our eating habits and traditional Austrian food, learning English vocabulary for cooking and acting out scenes in a restaurant, our tummies started to rumble. Thus, some students had the brilliant idea of making pancakes in our own school kitchen ‘Bistro Josef’. All of us got actively involved with preparing the dough, bringing tea bags and toppings or looking up recipes for pancakes. In our cooking lesson before the term break, we got experts in flipping the pancakes, like real chefs. Of course, we tried to speak English while cooking. Finally, we sprinkled on some apple slices and cinnamon and topped them with maple syrup. Like English students, we enjoyed our fluffy pancakes with a cup of tea. It was a great memorable group experience.
